An aria is a solo vocal opera performance, which also means “air’ in Italian – an apt title for a series of oil paintings inspired by different arias, all of which are a detailed representation of dramas being played out in the sky.

Ocholla acknowledges the strong influence of British painter William Turner, drawing on his ability to capture and freeze-frame drama and emotion in landscapes.

“In Aria, Ocholla attempts to pen down her own grand opera… through air, attaching interesting anecdotes to describe how some of her paintings were assigned their arias.” – State of the Art (www.stateoftheart-gallery.com)
